Plasma Gasification Expert

Plasma Gasification Expert

What does a plasma gasification expert or plasma gasification consultant do? First, let’s define plasma gasification.   Plasma gasification refers to an extreme thermal process using plasma.  Plasma is a fourth state of matter in which an ionised gaseous substance becomes highly conductive.  Unlike the other three states of matter (solid, gas and liquid) plasma generally does not naturally exist and must be artificially generated from neutral gases.  In plasma gasification, the plasma which converts some organic matter into a synthesis gas (syngas).  A torch is used ionize gas and catalyze organic matter into syngas, with slag (a glass-like substance) remaining as a bioproduct.   Plasma gasification is used as a treatment for municipal solid waste (MSW), industrial waste, hazardous waste, and other biomass and solid hydrocarbons such as coal, oil sands, petcoke, and oil shale.

A plasma gasification expert or plasma gasification consultant is someone who has a background, education and experience in this area.  Plasma gasification experts/consultants do many different things.  Often they are called upon by investors trying to conduct due diligence on a project.  They may assist in selecting the right technology (equipment) for a particular project or help in the oversight of building a plasma gasification plant.  They might assist a plant owner in ensuring that the plant runs as smoothly and efficiently as possible.  In matters involving plasma gasification related litigation, the plasma gasification consultant may serve as an expert to assist with a better understanding the exact issues involved, and may testify in court about the plasma gasification related matters.
