Yvon has over 40 years of experience in the pulp and paper industry, where he has managed operations and businesses across a diverse product range in both North America and Europe, serving customers worldwide. He served as Vice President of Pulp Operations at Tembec Inc., where he led the successful integration of three companies into Tembec. In this role, he was responsible for enhancing operational performance and spearheaded many modernization projects valued at over $100 million.
During his tenure at Tembec, Yvon managed the company’s largest operating facility, which was recognized as the most advanced biorefinery in North America. This facility included lignosulfonate production, ethanol production from waste sulfite liquor, biogas generation from evaporator condensate, and bioelectricity production from waste sulfite liquor and biomass. At Fortress, he played a key role in evaluating the development of value-added products from hemicellulose hydrolysate, such as Xylitol or biogas.
Yvon began his career in R&D, where he led the development of specialty dissolving pulp grades for applications in cellulose ether, cellulose acetate, and microcrystalline cellulose, contributing to Tembec becoming a leading producer in these areas. He has also been actively involved with R&D organizations in Canada and France, serving as a Board member and Chairman of both FPInnovations in Canada (for four years) and Afocel in France (for two years).
He holds a technical degree in Pulp and Paper from the College of Trois-Rivières, Québec, Canada. Contact Yvon.
