Ian Gosling, Ph.D.
Process Simulation, Mathematical Modeling, Fermentation, Purification, Biotechnology, Biobutanol, Biodiesel, Bioethanol, Bioplastics, Bioproducts
Dr. Gosling has spent much of his 40-year career in the biotechnology industry. He is the founder of ChemSim, a company specializing in process simulation for the biopharma and industrial biotechnology industries.
His experience spans a broad range of processes, including biobutanol, biodiesel, bioethanol, bioplastics, and various other bioproducts. Ian is an expert in process simulation and mathematical modeling, proficient in a variety of simulation tools—some of which he has helped develop. Flowsheet simulation tools are used to generate overall material and energy balances for process design while other tools are used to model the characteristics of specific unit operations.
As a biochemical engineer, Dr. Gosling has deep expertise in fermentation and purification processes. He has supported companies across all development stages, from early-stage technoeconomic assessments, feasibility studies, and conceptual design to process optimization and facility scheduling.
Dr. Gosling holds a B.Sc. and a Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Wales, Swansea, UK. Contact Ian.
