John has spent his 35 years building a robust track record in the global trading of commodities. He started in the Oil Industry with the German Marquard & Bahls Group in Sales, Business Development, and Trading roles with Oiltanking and Mabanft in Houston, London, and Singapore. He then joined Enron in its early days to help build various derivative origination businesses in Natural Gas, Electricity, Oil, Pulp & Paper, and Technology industries, both retail and wholesale.
John was then the first North American employee for Singapore-based Wilmar International in 2008 and, over the next 15 years, helped build this regional business to over $500 million in annual sales. John’s focus at Wilmar was building their biodiesel import business, accounting for 5% of US biodiesel consumption at its peak in 2016, and then pivoting to making Wilmar a dominant supplier of natural Fatty Alcohol to the US and Mexican surfactant markets. He was a key part of the management team and deeply involved in all aspects of the business. Since leaving Wilmar in May 2023, John has helped numerous liquid biofuel companies develop their feedstock strategies and business plans.
John received a BA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and has received further executive education at Thunderbird, University of Houston, and Rice University. Contact John.
