Dr. Maya Benami (Pritsker) (Ph.D.) acquired a first degree in molecular biology and a Ph.D. in microbiology and hydrology from universities in the U.S. and Israel. She is a research scientist with over fifteen years of professional experience conducting and evaluating studies relating to human health, cellular agriculture, food fermentation, fungal biotechnologies, agriculture, novel food technologies, microbiology, plant biochemistry, and environmental sustainability. In addition to publishing over a dozen scientific articles and presenting in international scientific venues, Dr. Benami is an editor of the first textbook on cell-based meat, Modern Meat. She is also the co-founder of Taste Like, a global alternative protein product database.
Dr. Benami regularly provides technical due diligence for global venture capital firms Vita Vera Ventures, Early Bird Ventures, and Intempo Ventures. She advises early-stage start-ups and global food and biopharmaceutical companies on their R&D, scientific grants, protocols, product registration, product development, and marketing.
