A bioprocess technology expert or consultant most commonly has a degree in one or more areas including biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical or bio engineering with at least some experience in commercial production and across all disciplines used in the process.  This expertise provides experience based on a combination of training and experience of using and optimizing the use of yeast, bacteria, fungi, and enzymes in a robust process to provide commercial products.  Because most bioprocess follow this model, a multidisciplinary team is the most effective in developing and operating any kind of bioprocess.  While there are individuals with extensive multidisciplinary experience, the synergies achieved in a cross-functional team far outweigh what any individual is capable of achieving.  An expert team can provide high impact value whether the project is a development project, a scaleup project, or a commercial operations project.
