Bioprocess Experts

.

Bioprocess technology typically uses microbes such as yeast, bacteria, or fungi to produce a product by fermentation and/or enzymes to transform or modify a chemical or material to produce a final product.  Bioprocess technology is also commonly integrated with conventional physical and chemical methods to achieve a total process.  A fuel ethanol plant is a common and relatively simple example of a bioprocess.  Ethanol is an example of a simple anaerobic fermentation that produces a high boiling product, ethanol, that is thus easily separated from the fermentation.  Many other fermentations are aerobic fermentation and are more complex; because, of the nature of anaerobic fermentation and a range of products that are more difficult to separate from the fermentation into a final product.  The production of the sweetener high fructose corn syrup using the enzyme glucose isomerase to convert glucose into fructose is a well-known and simple example.

A bioprocess technology expert or consultant most commonly has a degree in one or more areas including biochemistry, microbiology, and chemical or bioengineering with at least some experience in commercial production and across all disciplines used in the process.  This expertise provides experience based on a combination of training and experience of using and optimizing the use of yeast, bacteria, fungi, and enzymes in a robust process to provide commercial products.  Because most bioprocesses follow this model, a multidisciplinary team is the most effective in developing and operating any kind of bioprocess.  While there are individuals with extensive multidisciplinary experience, the synergies achieved in a cross-functional team far outweigh what any individual is capable of achieving.  An expert team can provide high impact value whether the project is a development project, a scaleup project, or a commercial operations project.

With over 150 consultants worldwide, Lee Enterprises Consulting has the diverse experts and geographical reach to assist in virtually any bioeconomy project. Our highly qualified teams bring a unique integration of technical, scientific, regulatory, and hands-on experience to any project.  Look at our experts and the services we provide.  Most of our experts are also available to advise and serve as expert witnesses in bioeconomy litigation matters.  For the larger projects, we specialize in putting together full-service, interdisciplinary teams with one point of contact.  See a video about LEC here.  Call us at 1+ (501) 833-8511 or email us for more information.
