Ethanol Gas

Ethanol gas is the mixture of ethanol with gasoline. Ethanol is an alcohol fuel made from plant material, such as corn, sugar cane, grasses, or woody biomass.  The worldwide use of ethanol as a fuel has increased dramatically. Ethanol has a higher-octane number than gasoline, giving it the ability to be blended into lower octane gasoline to attain the standard 87 octane. Most commonly found at nearly all gas stations is E15, a 15% ethanol mix approved for use in autos made after 2001, but ethanol gas is also available as E85 (flex fuel), an 85% ethanol mix designed for use in flex-fuel vehicles. In the airline industry, we have seen a priority in the use of synthetic aviation (bio-jet) fuel as the lower carbon requirements take effect worldwide, and the maritime industry is also now emerging as a renewable fuel customer.  When oil prices are low, renewable fuels such as ethanol may not be as economically feasible as compared to higher oil prices, but given the very great price fluctuations, the future of ethanol, biodiesel, sustainable aviation fuels, and all the other renewable fuels, seems very bright. The use of ethanol and these other renewable fuels continues to increase with new products and technologies constantly being offered.  This direction is good for our world as it reduces oil dependence (and the conflicts this causes), and as it reduces greenhouse gas emissions helping combat global warming.

Large renewable energy and biochemical consulting firms certainly have experts in biofuels and renewable biofuels like bioethanol, biodiesel, and renewable diesel, and the more common areas like biomaterials, biomass, biomass power, feedstocks, and biotechnology.  In these larger consulting groups, one will also find energy consultants in some specialty areas like other biofuels like algae biofuels, aviation/bio jet fuels, ethanol, cellulosic ethanol, advanced biofuels, biodiesel, renewable diesel, renewable natural gas, renewable and biochemicals, biogas, syngas, biochar, bio coals, biobutanol, pyrolysis oil, producer gas, and wood pellets.

With over 150 consultants worldwide, Lee Enterprises Consulting has the diverse experts and geographical reach to assist in virtually any bioeconomy project.
