Vincenzo De Rocchis, Ph.D.
Fermentation, Fungal Biotechnology, Alternative Proteins, Cell-Free Protein Synthesis, Side Streams Valorization, Environmental Biotechnology, Beneficial Symbiotic Microorganisms in Agriculture
Dr. Vincenzo De Rocchis is a research scientist with 15 years of experience in fungal biotechnology, fermentation (precision, biomass, and traditional), cell-free protein synthesis, agriculture and plant physiology, crop protection and environmental biotechnology. He brings a combination of scientific expertise and strategic acumen, dedicated to advancing biotechnology and cell-free systems across industries such as food, pharmaceuticals, and environmental applications.
With a Ph.D. in Plant-Fungus Interaction from Humboldt University of Berlin under the prestigious EU Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions grant, Dr. De Rocchis has led innovative projects and managed complex, cross-functional R&D teams. He has pioneered innovations in microbial physiology, synthetic biology, and recombinant protein production.
Notably, he won the EXIST-Gründerstipendium award from the German government to create an innovative startup based on a novel fungal-based cell-free protein synthesis process he developed. At Tessenderlo Group, he managed the production of alternative proteins and biovalorization processes of side streams while providing technical consulting for Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) and overseeing biosafety management.
