Biochar, Activated Carbon – Technology Assessment, Product Development, Evaluation of Market Opportunities
Bill is an activated carbon and biochar subject matter expert with over 25 years of experience with the integration of these adsorptive media into new and existing treatment systems. He worked for the largest activated carbon manufacturer in the world, for 21 years as a Senior Applications Engineer specializing in water and gas/air applications including product and market development. He has managed plant upgrades and expansion projects including construction planning and scheduling oversight for a $50MM activated carbon production facility and directing R&D facility operations with OPEX responsibility.
He currently provides consulting services to biochar manufacturers related to product development and marketability in traditional activated carbon applications. He is also a technical advisor to municipalities and engineering firms on equipment design and product integrations. He works with clients to design and manage proper evaluation protocols to assess the efficacy of biochar and activated carbon products. As well as developing numerous technical brochures, he has published articles in a variety of venues including the Journal of the AWWA and Pollution Engineering. He also presents training webinars to state environmental groups as well as engineering firms involved in remediation projects.
He is a member of numerous water and environmental committees, is an adviser to the EPA on regulatory issues and best available technologies (BAT), and has served as Chair of the AWWA Activated Carbon Standards Committee. Contact Bill.
