Polymer Expert

What is a polymer expert? Polymer science is the study of all types of polymers and plastics, including both thermosets and thermoplastics, and their applications.  Examples of the applications of these low-cost, high-performance materials that we use in our everyday lives include medical implants, packaging, insulation, automobile and airplane composites, adhesives, protective coatings, and textiles used in clothing.  As a testament to their usefulness to mankind, the world’s production of plastics was 88 billion pounds (400 million tonnes) in 2019.

A polymer scientist will usually have one or more degrees in either chemistry or polymer science, combined with extensive experience in developing polymers and monomers for various applications. This type of consultant will be able to guide how to best design and commercialize polymers and polymer formulations into new products and applications.  They will also be able to assist with troubleshooting processing problems, developing new renewable and recycled-content polymer products, and mitigating plastic waste in the environment.

Among its 150+ experts, Lee Enterprises Consulting has a wide range of services in bioenergy, biomaterials and chemicals, biotechnologies, and feedstocks.  We certainly have specialists in polymers.  Our Bio-Based Materials & Chemicals sections handle matters involving renewable and bio-based chemicals, renewable hydrogen and natural gas, synthetic biology, biochemical and thermochemical conversions, and the conversion of biomass to chemicals, liquids and sugars, animal-free products, fermentation, enzymes, catalysts, bioplastics and biosynthetic materials, biochar, biochemical conversion, bio-fabricated proteins, bio-fibers, biopharmaceuticals, flavors & fragrances, food products, herbicides, hydrocolloids, industrial chemicals lubricants, microbiome, nano carbons, nutraceuticals, pesticides, plastics, probiotics, protein targeting, reclaimed methanol, renewable electricity, renewable hydrogen, renewable natural gas (RNG), soil amendments, solvents, and sweeteners.
