Biotechnologies, Biomedical, Biopharmaceuticals, Molecular & Cell Biology, Translational Research

Rebecca has a Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary Biology from UNC Charlotte, an MPH from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech), and over 15 years of experience as an academic and professional in biomedical science, emphasizing autoimmune disease, molecular and cell biology, and translational research. She is a senior fellow at the University of Oxford antigen discovery group and leads multiple projects, emphasizing the movement of biomedical technologies through the patent pipeline from bench to bedside. She has contributed to and developed several novel biotechnologies, including transgenic plants for use in autoimmune diagnostic testing, biochemical characterization of the HIV restriction factor SAMHD1, and improved methods for blood and platelet storage. Further to this, she has managed over £15 million in grant portfolios, been responsible for the coordination of phase I and II clinical trials, both in the UK and overseas, engaged with federal regulators and ethics committees in five countries, and collaborated with global science and manufacturing partners to facilitate production, delivery, storage and use of biopharmaceuticals in numerous environments.  Contact Rebecca.
